NOBLE CHURCH OF CHRIST

“THE CHURCHES OF CHRIST SALUTE YOU”- Romans 16:16

Let Us Enter into the Remaining Rest!

Let Us Enter into the Remaining Rest!
Wow, I am so very encouraged because God is still working through His Word bringing souls to salvation.  I stand in amazement at God’s power, which causes me to bow at His feet with a humble heart.  When God’s Word is preached, it still pierces the hearts of men and convict men of their sins.  This was proven once again last Lord’s Day when JB expressed his desire to be baptized into our Lord for the forgiveness of his sins and serve Him faithfully from this day forward.
As we continue to work our way through this Hebrew letter, it is impossible not to see living for Jesus is a constant, day to day task.  It is a lifestyle change, not an intellectual experiment.  Once we have acknowledged our need for Jesus to wash away our sins, through baptism, our needs for Him become even greater.  We now have confessed to Him to be our Lord and Savior.  We need to remain close to Him for strength and guidance.  He is our Savior and Sustainer.
This week’s message will be taken from the fourth chapter of Hebrews.  I encourage you to read it, mediate on it and apply it to your everyday life, so you will not be one of those who falls short of His REST.
This chapter contains five “therefores,” each serving as a safeguard to help us complete our journey to the promised land which will end with peace and rest.
It also includes a very important teaching principle; we must have genuine concern for others.  “Therefore, we must fear if, while a promise remains of entering His rest, any one of you may seem to have come short of it.” (Vs 1) “Therefore let’s make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following the same example of disobedience.” (Vs 11).
My prayer for each us is, “Today if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.” But rather decide to assemble with the saints this Sunday, to hear His Word preached, to partake in Jesus’ memorial feast and offer praise and worship to Him in song.
As we do all these things I know you will be blessed, because we already have been blessed through Him.

In Christ,

Steve
