NOBLE CHURCH OF CHRIST

“THE CHURCHES OF CHRIST SALUTE YOU”- Romans 16:16

Jesus is Superior to Moses

The letter to the Hebrews is truly transformative.  The more we study this letter, the more we realize we need to study it.  This letter is timeless, even though it was written thousands of years ago, it is still relevant.  It appears the longer we are Christians we allow two things to happen.  The first thing to take place is the newness of having our sins washed away becomes a distant memory instead of a continual refreshing of our current sins being washed away daily (1 John 1:7). Secondly, we become casual in our approach to God’s commands.
We have been plowing through some rich soil as we have been reminded what advantage we have because we have Jesus abiding with us and ruling over us.  We have been reminded once again that He is not only our King, but He is our High Priest.
Here in this next lesson, we are going to be encouraged once again to be ready and willing to hear and respond to His message.  His message is presented to us not as an Old Testament prophet. We know Moses was a great prophet and spokesman for God, but Jesus was declared more than a prophet.  Moses was considered a servant of God, whereas Jesus is an heir, He is the Son of God.
This is wonderful news for us, because we, too, are entitled to blessings through Him.  He doesn’t want us to take our eyes off our prize we have in Jesus, or lag so far behind we lose sight of Him, either.
Verse one of the third chapter begins with, “Therefore.” It connects what has just been said with the supporting verses to follow.  We see clearly the blessings in Jesus.  We are considered holy brethren, family.  We are partakers in a heavenly calling; God wants us to be where He is! He is our confession; we acknowledge Him for who He is and what He means to us.
In verse seven, there is another, “Therefore.”  This is our response to our calling and confession.  So, today, let us respond positively and quickly so we will receive a blessing and not a punishment for an unbelieving heart and a love for sin.
My prayer is for you to see Jesus’ desire to be your all in all.  He wants to bless you in every way and every day.  You can return His love by being here this Sunday to share in the message from Jesus as our apostle and high priest (Hebrews 3:1).

In Christ,
Steve
