Thank you, each and every one, for attending our worship of God on a regular basis. When we choose to worship our Heavenly Father and His Son, our Savior Jesus, we are expressing our greatest appreciation for the love extended to us at Calvary. We honor Him through our acts of worship. Each first day of the week brings hope and renewal for our lives through partaking of the memorial feast and feasting on God’s Word that gives us spiritual nourishment that we desperately need to grow in knowledge and strength. Hebrews 10:24-25 always comes to mind as I see so many believers coming together for our time of worship.
I believe our spirituality consists of two major areas. First, our coming together for worship and secondly, taking what we have gained from worship with us into the world. God has had a plan for us before all of creation that He wanted to be our God and we would be His workmanship who would glorify Him.
As previously mentioned, we glorify Him as we worship Him, but we also glorify Him through our obeying Him. I don’t think this can be overstressed. We are saved through His love, mercy and grace and because we are saved, we demonstrate our thankfulness in fulfilling our purpose through our service of being his disciple.
As was mentioned in last Sunday’s message, God’s purpose of discipleship was in His mind before anything was created. Basically, we are created in His image so we can show the world what He is like to our lost and dying world. We learn about God and what He is like through our understanding of what Jesus was like while He walked with the first century disciples. We have His life and experiences outlined for us throughout the scriptures. As we read His Word, we learn of who He really is and as we learn more about who He is we will strive to become more like Him day by day and share with others, so they learn of Him and follow Him daily.
I will list one verse to answer the title’s question. As you read it, see if my conclusion is accurate. “Now as they observed the confidence of Peter and John and understood that they were uneducated and untrained men, they were amazed, and began to recognize them as having been with Jesus.” (Acts 3:13) NASB
Hopefully we can worship together this Lord’s Day knowing this is our greatest demonstration of devotion to our Heavenly Father and His Son, our Savior.
Remember, He died for us so we can live for Him!
In Christ,
Steve
